A modern day, tough-love "Mary Poppins" gets placed with families in need of guidance or care.
In each episode the "Supernanny” observes how the parents handle their day-to-day obstacles with their children from tantrums to potty-training. Once the pitfalls are assessed, she works with the parents, instilling tried-and-true methods for transforming unwanted behavior. Then, after demonstrating just how well the new style will work and getting unbelievable results from the children, the parents must fly solo with the techniques. For several days they try to implement the suggestions, and she revisits them at the end of the program to help keep them on track for the future.

“Help! I'm a Terrible Parent” takes a couple who love each other and their children and gives them a chance to reassess what they’ve always thought was the best way to raise a family. For one week men are allowed to rule the roost, the family must live by their rules. The following week women are in charge. At the end of the two weeks they come face-to-face and their rules are examined by the tough talking but caring family therapist.
