| TimeOut Tot was created
by Ann R. Brazil, a woman whose credentials are both unique and universal.
She is the mother of three -- a son 18, who is mildly retarded, a
daughter in middle school and another son, who is a leukemia survivor
now thriving in elementary school.
Ann graduated from UCLA in 1979 with a BA in design, and has worked
as a marketing executive since 1985. When her first-born son was
diagnosed "mildly retarded" she took an extended leave
of absence to understand his disabilities and learning style.
This quest turned into an 18 year-study in early childhood development.
During that time, Ann consulted with numerous child psychologists,
behaviorists, speech pathologists, neurologists and teachers. She
spent hundreds of hours in the classroom with mainstream and special
education children. She studied countless books and articles on
the topic of behavior management. Her research and hands on experience
resulted in an in-depth understanding of early childhood behavior.
Ann created TimeOut Tot to share everything she learned.
It continues to be her hope to help minimize the frustrations that
can come with childrearing, by giving parents a better understanding
of early childhood development, and some tools to help bring consistent
discipline strategies into their home so that children gain a clearer
understanding of "what is right and wrong."
Ann's mission to encourage good moral decision-making in young
children began many years ago. In 1999, she started a Sunday Preschool
Program at her church. For six years she created weekly lessons
that taught young children what is right and good through bible
stories, songs, crafts and other activities. |
